Here's my favorite hamburger bun or hot dog bun recipe using the bread machine.
In bread pan, combine
- 1 C + 2-3 T. warm water
- 2 t. U-Bake Yeast
- 2 1/4 T. U-Bake Sugar.
Once the yeast has activated with foaming (about 10-15 minutes), add the rest of the ingredients:
- 1 1/2 T. instant U-Bake mashed potatoes flakes
- 1 1/4 t. U-Bake salt
- 3 C. U-Bake bread flour
- 2-3 t. butter or margarine in the corners of the pan.
Sometimes I will add 1-2 t. U-Bake dried onion or garlic in the dough cycle.
Set for dough cycle. Once it has finished, roll out the dough on a floured board. I knead it down to about 1/2" and flatten it out to a size of 12 X 18." I used a cooky cutter and place the cut circles on a lightly greased cooky sheet. Let them rise about an hour or less, if using a warm place. I place mine on a radiator so it only takes about 1/2 - 3/4 hr. Bake @ 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Let them rest until cool and store in a bread bag. If you want hot dog buns, just roll into ropes of 5" or so, let rise and bake as above.
