- 2 Eggs
- 2/3 Cup Milk
- 3 slices bread, torn into pieces
- 1/2 Cup finely chopped onion
- 1 Cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (I prefer cheddar)
- 1 T Fresh Parsley
- 1/4 tsp U-Bake Pepper
- 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef or venisen
You can also use:
- 1 tsp dried U-Bake Parsley
- 1 tsp U-Bake Salt
- 2 tsp dried U-Bake Basil
Topping
- 1/2 Cup tomato Sauce (or ketchup in a pinch)
- 1/2 Cup packed U-Bake Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Prepared Mustard
In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add milk and bread; let stand a few minutes or until the bread absorbs the liquid. Stir in the onion, cheese, herbs and seasonings. Add beef; mix well. In a shallow baking pan, shape beef mixture into a 7x3x2-inch loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine topping ingredients. Spoon some of the topping over the meat loaf. Bake for about 30 to 45 minutes longer or until no pink remains, occasionally spooning some the the remaining topping over the loaf. Let stand 10 inutes before serving. Serves: 6.
