We opened our Appleton store in 2006 after visiting Steve’s parents in Madison. Our daughter came home from shopping with her Grandma and told us about the great store they had visited. She talked about all the frozen ready-to-bake goodies at the store and how “cool” the store was. Then we tasted the cookies and pastries she baked with her Grandma, and we were hooked.
We went back to the store with my daughter so we could see for ourselves. It was just before Christmas, and while at the store, customers were streaming in with enthusiastic compliments, commenting on how wonderful the holiday cut-outs tasted, claiming that the gingerbread was the best they ever tasted or repeating how much their dinner guests loved the bread and rolls. We were amazed by the huge selection of products that we never knew were available to the general public. We were intrigued by not just how good everything looked but also by the convenience and time savings offered by the products. We couldn’t wait to get home that weekend and sample all the treats. As a very busy family, with two school-age kids, two jobs and hectic sports, dance and school activity schedules, we loved the convenience offered by U-Bake. I kept remembering all the times one of our kids would come home from school and inform me they needed two dozen cookies for a student counsel bake sale or class party the next day. We loved having warm, buttery dinner rolls and bread with dinner and missed the aroma of fresh baking wafting through the house. Following that fateful weekend, we were so impressed by how easy to bake and how delicious everything tasted, I wanted to bring U-Bake home to my friends in the Fox Valley, and the rest is history.
